Accessibility
As educators, we must always strive to create content that is accessible to all. If we were in a traditional classroom, we would make sure that individuals with disabilities could navigate the physical space. For example, we would make sure that a student using a wheelchair does not have obstacles in their path that would keep them from participating in the course. Our methodology may differ when designing content for the web or online learning, but the goal remains the same.
Web and online learning content needs to meet specific criteria included in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
Trying to make your course as accessible as possible can seem daunting at first, but there are a wealth of resources available to help you. The websites below offer wonderful resources, but if you would like individualized assistance or an accessibility review of your course, contact CAS instructional designer, Angel Muzik.
