Offering an exciting environment for collegiate study with an award-winning, internationally renowned faculty. Small class sizes make it easy to interact with the faculty, and innovative courses such as the project-oriented Math Modeling course enhance the curriculum. Recognizing you are an individual, the department is structured to allow you to develop to your fullest potential.

General Track

Offering the widest possible mathematical breadth, the B.A. or B.S. that you can earn from this track is appropriate for virtually all mathematics majors. This is the recommended track for students intending to pursue an advanced degree.

Secondary Teacher Certification

Preparing students to teach mathematics in high school, this option leads to a degree in mathematics and fulfillment of the course requirements for secondary mathematics teaching certification in Oklahoma.

Applied Mathematics

Designed to prepare students for the wide variety of jobs available in government, business, and industry, this option emphasizes breadth across science and engineering courses related to mathematics.

Actuarial and Financial Mathematics

Preserving the tradition mathematics has serving as an entry to actuarial careers, this option prepares you for the the larger role that mathematics now plays in the world of banking and finance.

Pre-Professional

Pre-Law and Pre-Medical Sciences options allow you to build a degree that will standout to top schools while also taking the classes that they traditionally require.

Minor

A logical supporting subject for majors in a wide variety of fields, our minor is very flexible and permits courses in a broad range of mathematical subjects.

The Mathematics Learning Success Center provides a large computer lab, tutoring, homework help, and exam reviews.

Calculator Checkout

Any semester that you are enrolled in a MATH or STAT course, you are eligible to checkout a graphing calculator from the math department.

Math Club

Pi Mu Epsilon provides the opportunity to bond through fun and games mathematicians play. Some meetings feature guest speakers on interesting mathematical topics, like juggling and origami. Contests are held each semester such as Math Jeopardy and the Integration Bee.

Undergraduate Awards

Every spring students are recognized for their academic achievements. The department is proud to be able to support multiple students through scholarships for their accomplishments.

Senior Honors Theses

Seniors have the opportunity to work one-on-one with a member of the faculty to complete research and report on a mathematical topic.

Undergraduate Senior Showcase

Seniors can complete a brief survey about their favorite math class, their favorite instructor and some advice to the younger generations of OSU math majors. The answers provided in the survey will be displayed across from 428 MSCS.
