Cowboy Microfabrication Corral (CMC)

Welcome to the CMC!

The development of new devices starts with an idea or concept that will lead to the growth of a new or modified material. This material has to be characterized, and sometimes theoretical calculations are needed to better understand the material or to advise about modifications to it. Finally, the material is converted into a functional device that will be tested and further characterized. Along this path, different processes, techniques and expertise have to be efficiently combined to rapidly advance and succeed in state-of-the-art research. In this direction, the Cowboy Microfabrication Corral (CMC) is a facility created to provide not only efficient access to infrastructure but also the expertise needed for the development of new materials.

The CMC is equipped with different systems running from deposition systems, material characterization, and advanced measurement platforms like the newly acquired Quantum Design PPMS DynaCool, among others that allow us to develop research in different areas, not only for university research but also for small and large companies.

Quantum Design PPMS Dilution Refrigerator module, enabling ultra-low temperature measurements down to 50 millikelvin for advanced materials research

Quantum Design PPMS DynaCool system with integrated 9 Tesla superconducting magnet and temperature control from 50 mK to 400 K, used for precision measurements of magnetic, thermal, and electrical properties.
