Culturomics Services

• High Throughput Microbial Culturomics
  We offer high-throughput culturomics services to isolate diverse microbial communities from various samples. This is done under a range of physiological conditions (oxygen levels, temperature, pH, salinity) and media compositions, using multiple approaches and platforms to maximize taxonomic diversity from environmental samples.
• Targeted Culturomics
  Our targeted culturomics services focus on isolating specific members of a microbial community. This includes the isolation of certain strains, microbes with specific degradative capacities, microbes enabling specific functions, or microbes producing key enzymes or capable of surviving under defined conditions.
• Culture Characterization
  We provide comprehensive identification and characterization of microbial isolates. Services range from basic identification and physiological or metabolic characterization to complete taxonomic profiling, including naming of novel isolates.
• Storage, Submission to Culture Collections, and Culturing Assistance
  We offer both short- and long-term storage solutions for microbial cultures. In collaboration with culture collections, we assist with the submission of isolates and provide support in the ordering, growth, and maintenance of microbial isolates from these collections.

Genome Sequencing and Analysis Services

Our facility facilitates genome sequencing of isolates through trusted sequencing partners. We offer genome assembly, annotation, and tailored analysis, addressing specific client interests. Additionally, we assist in designing and implementing transcriptomic experiments in collaboration with the High-Performance Computing Center (HPCC).

• Amplicon-Based Diversity Surveys
  We provide services for amplicon-based microbial community characterization using various markers (16S rRNA, 18S rRNA, ITS-spacer region) for different microorganism types. We can perform targeted surveys of phylogenetic lineages or metabolic guilds. Services range from technical assistance with lab procedures and sequencing to in-depth analysis of community diversity, structure, and assembly drivers, as well as factors influencing diversity.
• Quantification Services
  We offer microbial community quantification using quantitative and digital PCR techniques, both for total microbial content and specific community members.
• Metagenomic and Metatranscriptomic Sequencing and Analysis
  Our services include the design and implementation of metagenomic and metatranscriptomic experiments. We have expertise in DNA and RNA extraction from low-nucleic acid environmental samples and provide services for sequence assembly, binning, and annotation. Our team has extensive experience in genome binning from metagenomes and assessing phylogenetic diversity and metabolic potential.
