Bio
John Sarvela is a PhD student studying 19th Century American history. His research specifically focuses on the participation and experiences of Midwestern German Americans in the Union's Western Armies during the Civil War. He received a B.S. and B.A. from Eastern Illinois University and an M.A. from the University of Southern Mississippi.
