Bio
Md Shihabul Islam is a Master’s student and Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Sociology at Oklahoma State University. He completed his Bachelor of Social Science in 2019 and Master of Social Science in 2021 from the Department of Sociology at the University of Dhaka, the highest-ranked university in Bangladesh. During his undergraduate tenure, Shihabul actively engaged in the Dhaka University Research Society and the Dhaka University Debating Society. He is an award-winning debater and received a Merit Scholarship for his Bachelor of Social Science academic performance in 2019.
He conducted his master’s thesis on “Gender Differences in Risk Perception towards HIV/AIDS among the Rohingya Refugees in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.” He has worked as a Research Officer at the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies, one of the top multidisciplinary research organizations in Bangladesh. Shihabul also worked as a Research Associate at the Centre for Peace Studies at North South University. He has published an empirical article in the Journal of Social Behavior and Community Health. He served as a faculty member at two well-known private universities in Bangladesh: Bangladesh University and Green University of Bangladesh.
