Contributions

  • Kanae Sakuma contributed to linguistic psychology and to introduce Gestalt psychology.
  • His biggest contributions were in the areas of Japanese phonetics and language comprehension.
  • He was engaged in the first experimental research of Japanese phonetic characteristics in Japan.
  • He founded psychological laboratory at Kyushu Imperial University and the Kyushu Psychological Association.
