General Information
Oklahoma State University Psychology Department Interview Day 2025 will be conducted remotely via Zoom.
Zoom Process
This year, all interviews and Interview Day events will be held via Zoom. We will be sending out detailed schedules of all events and the accompanying Zoom links as we get closer to February.
Each meeting, interview, and event will have a unique Zoom link for you to follow. You do not need a Zoom account to use the program, but please plan to use this application for the entire day. Our faculty, staff and graduate students are familiar with issues related to caregiving, tending to pets and technology concerns so we understand there may be times when you need to be off-screen. We encourage you to keep your video on for individual interviews and small group meetings when possible but understand if you need screen breaks during larger meetings or events. This process will not be perfect—we anticipate interruptions and awkwardness. Please know that our faculty, staff and graduate students face these same issues. We plan to extend grace and flexibility to all of our applicants. We hope you can do the same for us!
In addition, we are prepared to meet any additional needs or accommodations that may be helpful, so please don’t hesitate to let us know how we can provide an opportunity for you to shine. Additionally, if you indicate that you are attending interview weekend, we will send you a survey that specifically asks about accommodations needed.
We will also have technical support before and during Interview Day to address any problems that may arise. We will be sending you information on who to contact with any technical issues closer to February, but if any problems arise before then, please contact Eric Mann (Clinical) or Julia Hurwitz (Experimental).
Advanced Preparation
In addition to preparing for interviews and meetings, this year we ask that you watch a video of our graduate administrators introducing our program and department. We will be uploading this video at least one week in advance, and we will be holding Q&A sessions where you will have the opportunity to bring any questions regarding the video to the faculty and students. This introduction video will contain vital information about our program, and we appreciate you taking time out of your schedule to view it in advance, thus giving us the best opportunity to focus our Interview Day time on answering your questions. We plan to host two Q&A sessions in order to accommodate for time zone differences.
Interview Day Process
There will be many different types of interviews, meetings and events going on during Interview Day! You will be scheduled to meet individually with the faculty member(s) you have applied to work with, as well as additional meetings with other faculty throughout the day. In addition, you will have the opportunity to meet with the graduate students in the lab you have applied to work with in order to gain insight about your research fit and the graduate student experience here at OSU. These meetings will be formal, and we ask that you are dressed in Business Casual and encourage you to keep your videos on for these sessions. We will do our best to offer plenty of breaks, and lunch will be on your own.
In addition, there will be meetings dedicated to providing you a tour of Oklahoma State’s campus and the Stillwater community. During these meetings you will be provided the opportunity to meet with current graduate students and other applicants to ask questions and discuss what living in Stillwater and attending OSU is really like. These meetings will be more casual.
Clinical students will also attend a virtual tour and Q&A session regarding our graduate student-run clinic, referred to as the Psychological Services Clinic (or the PSC). This meeting will be hosted by the Clinic Director and Associate Clinic Directors and is a great time to ask any clinic-related questions you have about our program.
On Friday afternoon you will have additional time to casually meet within the track you are applying to, and the faculty lab you applied to work with to talk more about Oklahoma State. This is a great chance to ask any last-minute questions and to get to know everyone in a more informal environment.
Following the interview process on Friday, there will be an informal, non-evaluative meeting open to all applicants. Although we will be talking about student inclusion and support throughout the day, this meeting will specifically provide an opportunity to discuss the climate and culture at OSU with current graduate students. We will be providing you with an opportunity to submit questions in advance that will be answered during this time. Additionally, you are welcome to bring additional questions or discussion topics to the session itself. More casual attire is appropriate for this meeting.
If you need any further information or clarifications, Clinical applicants can feel free to give Eric Mann a call at (405) 744-9022. For questions specific to the Experimental Program, please contact Julia Hurwitz. They would like to be able to help make this day as enjoyable and stress-free as possible.
Congratulations once again on receiving this invitation!
