At the end of this module, participants should be able to:
- Define Motivational Interviewing, an evidence-based counseling strategy designed to help clients commit to behavior change and engage in subsequent treatment.
- Describe the style, spirit, and fundamental strategies of Motivational Interviewing and how those can enhance efforts to help others accept behavior change.
- Distinguish a Motivational Interviewing approach from non-Motivational Interviewing strategies that may interfere with behavior change, treatment, or recovery.
This course will also provide information about subsequent learning opportunities related to Motivational Interviewing as well as a list of recommended readings to further participants' understanding of core Motivational Interviewing concepts.
