The Greenwood School of Music offers a wide range of scholarships to recognize talent, dedication, and academic excellence. Thanks to the generosity of OSU donors and alumni, music students have access to numerous awards that make pursuing a degree both affordable and rewarding. No separate application is required—your audition serves as your scholarship application.

• Choral/Vocal/Opera

  • Greenwood School of Music Opera Scholarship: Awarded to a student who is involved in the OSU Opera based on annual auditions.

  • Glenda Jo Krenn Music Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time vocal major with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

  • McGrew Family Endowed Music Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time vocal major with documented financial need.

  • Sydney & Allen Reding Endowed Opera Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time vocal major involved in the opera program.

  • Sunny Van Eaton Endowed Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time vocal performance major.

• Cowboy Marching Band

  • The Little Bluestem Band Endowed Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time student in the Ferguson College of Agriculture who is a member of the Cowboy Marching Band with documented financial need.

  • Cowboy Marching Band Leadership Endowed Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time non-music major who is in a leadership position in the Cowboy Marching Band.

  • OSU Drum Major Endowed Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time student who is serving as a drum major in the Cowboy Marching Band.

  • Cathy Lynn Griffin Endowed Marching Band Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time student who is a flutist in the Cowboy Marching Band.

  • Dennis Mack Jones Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time student from Craig, Mayes, Ottawa, Rogers, or Tulsa County in Oklahoma who is a member of the Cowboy Marching Band and a university concert ensemble.

  • Hugh E. “Bubba” Kierig Endowed Tuba Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time student in a leadership role with the tuba/sousaphone section of the Cowboy Marching Band.

  • Pam & Gary Lanman Endowed Marching Band Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time student who is a member of the Cowboy Marching Band; one music major and one non-music major each year.

  • Poehling & Brown Family Endowed Marching Band Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time non-music major who is a member of the Cowboy Marching Band with documented financial need.

  • Pete & Kathy Sawatzky Marching Band Bass Drum Scholarship: Awarded to the full-time students who are bass drum players in the Cowboy Marching Band.

  • Pete & Kathy Sawatzky Marching Band Tenor Drum Scholarship: Awarded to the full-time students who are tenor drum players in the Cowboy Marching Band.

  • Wilma & Ken Wood OSU Marching Band Endowed Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time student who is a member of the Cowboy Marching Band with a minimum 2.5 GPA.

• Instrumental

  • Gabriel Endowed Scholarship: Awarded to an instrumental student with evidence of financial need, strong leadership ability, and demonstrated high academic achievement.

• Instrumental - Keyboard

  • Ron & Thora duBois Endowed Scholarship: Awarded in alternating years to a piano major with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

  • Greta J. Eisenbraun Piano Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time piano major.

  • Thomas Ralph Eversole Piano Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time piano major.

  • Betty J. Foster Piano Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time keyboard major.

  • Gerald Frank Friends of Music Endowed Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time keyboard major.

  • Kathleen V. Green Gardner Endowed Music Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time piano major with a minimum 3.5 GPA and documented financial need.

• Instrumental - Strings

  • Renee Hall-Ramsey Memorial Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time violin major with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

  • Dr. Frank Hladky/Gibson Family Endowed Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time music major in the string area.

• Instrumental - Woodwinds/Brass/Percussion

  • Beeby Scholarship for Instrumental Music Education: Awarded to a full-time junior or senior from Oklahoma who is pursuing a degree in instrumental music education. Recipient must play a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument.

  • Duncan & Cheryl Coons Trombone Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time music major who is studying trombone.

  • Harmon D. Cumming Endowed Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time music major who is a brass student.

  • Hiram Henry Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time low brass music major.

  • Chuck Stewart Orchestra & Wind Ensemble Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time music major who plays French horn in the orchestra or wind ensemble.

• Jazz

  • Bob & Anna Whitlock Henry Jazz Endowed Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time music major who plays keyboard/piano in a jazz ensemble.

  • Paul A. “Prof” Montemurro Scholarship for Jazz: Awarded to a high brass student enrolled in a jazz ensemble with documented financial need.

• Music Education Majors

  • Ruth & Wayne Galleher Endowed Music Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time music education major from Oklahoma with documented financial need and a minimum 3.0 GPA.

  • Koontz Family Endowed Music Education Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time music education major.

• Music Majors

  • Edmonson Family Endowed Music Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time music major with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

  • Friends of Music Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time music major with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

  • Greenwood School of Music Endowed Recruiting Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time music major.

  • John Steve Hyden & Ann Hyden Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time music major.

  • Melvin L. & Margaret S. Keeney Endowed Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time music major with a minimum 3.0 GPA and documented financial need.

  • Richard D. Niswonger Endowed Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time music major.

  • William Harvey & Maude Frost Pasley Memorial Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time music major with a minimum 2.5 GPA.

  • David Scott Salyer Memorial Scholarship: Awarded to an incoming full-time music major.

• Specific Undergraduate Classifications

  • Richard & Diane Buchanan Endowed Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time sophomore, junior, or senior music major with a minimum 3.25 GPA.

  • Harrill Scholarship: Awarded to a sophomore, junior, or senior music major with a minimum 3.2 GPA and documented financial need.

  • Junior & Margaret Jennings Endowed Scholarship: Awarded to an incoming freshman based upon musical excellence. Recipient must maintain full-time music major status and a minimum 3.0 GPA to retain award.

  • Phyllis Ann Lambert Endowed Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time sophomore, junior, or senior music major from Oklahoma.

  • President’s Distinguished Scholarship in Music: Awarded to an incoming freshman with minimum HS GPA of 3.75 and 27 ACT or 1210 SAT. Recipient must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA to retain award.

• Other

  • Hilary K. Andrews Memorial Scholarship: Awarded to a student from Edmond Memorial High School with documented financial need.

  • Chickasaw Nation Endowed Music Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time music major who is a member of the Chickasaw Nation.

  • Dr. Max A. Mitchell Endowed Scholarship: Awarded to a student that displays musical excellence.

  • Eileen Edmonson Smith Endowed Scholarship: Awarded to a junior or senior full-time music major with a minimum 2.5 GPA from Medford High School or Grant County in Oklahoma.
