Large, Mixed Choirs
Oklahoma State has two large, mixed choirs: Concert Chorale and University Singers. Both ensembles prepare concerts for each semester and perform great vocal works that showcase the hard work of the students and directors involved.
Concert Chorale
Concert Chorale is an auditioned mixed ensemble of approximately 48 singers. Comprised of various majors throughout the university community, it is the premier singing ensemble at Oklahoma State University.
Concert Chorale presents six main season concerts each year, records for music publishers, and hosts several guest conductors and composers each season. Past guests include composers Ēriks Ešenvalds, Morten Lauridsen, Ola Gjeilo, Eric Barnum, Daniel Elder and Matthew Harris, Jake Runestad and conductors Jo-Michael Scheibe (University of Southern California) and Bruce Rogers (Mount San Antonio College).
Concerts also feature international vocalists such as Sarah Coburn and Leona Mitchell. Concert Chorale performed at the Southwest Division of the American Choral Director's Association (ACDA) and in addition, Chorale performed at the National ACDA as well. Concert Chorale has toured France, England, Italy, Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic. Concerts were performed in Vienna, Prague, Salzburg, Paris, London, Cambridge, and other prestigious cities.
University Singers
University Singers is conducted by Dr. Christopher Haygood and is the largest choir at Oklahoma State University.
With 75 voices of music and non-music majors, this exciting group performs two concerts a semester. In addition, they perform in the OSU President's Masterworks Concert each year with full orchestra.
There is no audition required for University Singers.
Rehearsals are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11:30 AM - 12:20 PM in room 123 of the Seretean Center for the Performing Arts.
