STEM Living Summer Bridge Program

July 23 - August 11, 2023

Dorm Room

The STEM Living Summer Bridge Program is a

three-week, on-campus residential program for incoming first-year students who have been accepted to Oklahoma State University and plan to study a STEM major within the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS).

The program is designed to help students transition from high school to college by preparing them for college-level math and sciences courses through academic reviews, mock exams, orientation seminars and lab projects. The program focuses on College Algebra (MATH 1513) and Chemistry I (CHEM 1314), which are foundational courses in all STEM disciplines, especially pre-med pathways.

The STEM Living Summer Bridge Program can potentially shorten time to graduation, depending on a student’s level of math readiness at the start of the program. In addition, participants build relationships with peers, faculty and staff while building strong study habits with the assistance of CAS STEM mentors.

Our goal is to support incoming freshman who may need additional preparation to achieve their academic goals. All admitted CAS students are encouraged to apply. Priority consideration will be for rural and first-generation students.

Requirements and Expectations

Summer Bridge participants must live in the STEM Living Learning Program in Wentz Hall during the three-week program and for the 2023-2024 academic year.

The pilot program for STEM Living Summer Bridge 2023 is free of cost! This is a $1,500 value in housing, meals, instruction and recreational activities from July 23 to August 11. The program begins four weeks prior to the start of fall semester, ending the first day of Welcome Week so students can attend events and prepare for the semester.
