Fall

Summer

  • Ann Money successfully defended her dissertation. Congratulations Ann!
  • Angela Riley presented her research at the Fourth Annual Joint Meeting of the Oklahoma Society of Physiologists, the Tulsa Society for Neuroscience and the Tulsa Area Bioscience Education Consortium.
  • Kelsey Brass’ M.S. research was published in Hormones and Behavior.
  • Jen received funding for zebra finch research from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute for Child Health and Human Development of the National Institutes of Health.

Spring

  • Matt Ridenour successfully defended his M.S. thesis. Congratulations Matt!
  • Jen received the Margaret S. Ewing Outstanding Mentor Award in the OSU Department of Integrative Biology.
  • Sierra Williams received the Wilhm Travel award from the OSU Department of Integrative Biology. Congratulations Sierra!
  • Jen began contributing to COVID-19 testing efforts at OSU.
  • Jen participated in a Wiki edit-a-thon with the Stillwater 500 Women Scientists pod.
  • Kaati Schreier’s M.S. research was published in Animal Behaviour.
  • Sierra Williams received a Grant-in-Aid of Research from the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology. Yay, Sierra!
  • Matt Ridenour, Kelsey Brass, and Angela Riley presented their research at the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology conference in Austin, TX . Angela received the Elizabeth Adkins-Regan award for her outstanding poster presentation Yay, Angela!

2019

  • The OSU Scientist-Teacher and Teacher-Scientist team led by Dr. Andrew Doust (Plant Biology, Ecology, and Evolution) along with team members Dr. Julie Angle (School of Teaching, Learning and Educational Sciences), Tanner Bryan (School of Teaching, Learning and Educational Sciences), Dr. Rob Burnap (Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, and Dr. Jen Grindstaff (Integrative Biology) won first place in the OSU President’s Cup for Creative Interdisciplinarity for the project, “Promoting Interdisciplinary Inquiry Through Scientist-Teachers and Teacher-Scientists.”
  • Sarah Gardner’s research was published in Royal Society Open Science
  • Kathleen Stuck, a secondary science teacher in training and participant in the 2019 Research Experiences for Teacher program, presented her research and inquiry based science lesson plan at the National Association of Biology Teachers annual meeting in Chicago, IL.
