OSU 2024 High School Piano Competition

Competition Information

High school seniors participating in the OSU Piano Competition may elect to have their competition performance serve as their college audition.

Students interested auditioning at OSU on February 10, 2024 must also fill out an audition request form.

 

Eligibility:

Piano students currently enrolled in grades 10 through 12. Those who are or have been a student of an OSU piano faculty member may enter for a critique but are ineligible to win. A First Place Winner is ineligible to win the next year’s Competition but may enter for a critique only.

 

Repertoire:

Each contestant must perform from memory two solo works from contrasting style periods. Performance length will be a minimum of five minutes and a maximum of twelve minutes. Please omit repeats in sonata movements. Supply one copy of all music, with the measures numbered, for the judges, noting that photocopies are prohibited. Contestants may not repeat repertoire previously performed in the Competition.

 

Entry Fee:

Please submit a non-refundable entry fee of $20.00 per student. The entry fee may be paid with the online registration OR students may submit checks made payable to the OSU Greenwood School of Music along with their downloaded entry form.

 

Application Deadline:

Registrations must be postmarked (or online applications received by) Monday, January 22, 2024. The schedule for performance times, as well as instructions for the day, will be emailed to each teacher and student on Monday, January 29, 2024.

Judging:

Each entrant will receive a Certificate of Merit as well as comment sheets written by the members of the OSU piano faculty, who will judge the Competition.
