Saman Seyfi
Graduate Teaching Assistant
Bio
During his time as an undergraduate, Saman's curiosity led him to explore various areas within the social sciences. Throughout his projects, he consistently found himself drawn to themes of sexuality, culture, politics, and critical theory. For instance, he analyzed the sexual dynamics of a popular Iranian series through a psychoanalytic lens, revealing insights into the political mindset of the country's emerging politicians.
In a more recent project, Saman investigated the attitudes of Iranian boys towards anti-feminism. Using a phenomenological approach, he gained valuable insights into how young Iranian males perceive (anti)feminist ideologies, how they define feminist and feminism, and identified the key issues that prevent them from embracing pro-feminist perspectives.
After graduating with a bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of Tehran, Saman aims to continue his academic pursuits by studying the "anti-woke mentality" at Oklahoma State University. He plans to conduct comparative studies on controversial topics such as abortion and climate change, with the goal of deepening our understanding of the factors shaping people's views on these issues.
