Gabby Gomez
Graduate Teaching Associate
Bio
Gabby earned a B.A. in Sociology from West Chester University of Pennsylvania in 2011, where she also minored in Psychology and Women’s and Gender Studies. From there, she went on to earn an M.A. in Sociology and a graduate certificate in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies from Lehigh University. Her Master’s Thesis, Becoming a Health at Every Size-Practitioner: An Examination of Dietitian Role Exit, explores the process through which nutrition professionals disidentify with their traditional role as “weight management experts” and become “non-diet” dietitians who practice weight neutral healthcare. Here at OSU, Gabby is specializing in social inequality and social movements, focusing on beauty/weight-based inequality and the Health at Every Size movement.
