Outstanding Computer Science Scholar Award
The Outstanding Computer Science Scholar Award is given to students who show exceptional promise for achievement as evidenced by their GPA. This award is decided by the CS Departmental Award Committee. While the main criteria for winning award is high GPA, the committee will also look at personal initiatives taken by the student such as working as an intern, number of high level courses, attending seminars/scholarly talks outside coursework, etc. No more than five students will be awarded during a particular year.
- Requirements and Application
Eligibility:
- Must be a Computer Science major
- Must be a Junior or Senior.
- Not a recipient of previous year’s Outstanding CS Leadership Award
Nomination By:
- Faculty (required)
- Tips: If you are confident in your scholarly activities, you can also request a faculty to nominate you (the Faculty reserves the right to refuse to nominate)
Nomination Criteria:
- Main Criteria: Course grade
- Special consideration will also be given to students who participate enthusiastically in class, as well as help others learn (e. g. class forum participation)

Outstanding Computer Science Researcher Award
The Outstanding Computer Science Researcher Award recognizes students who show outstanding research potential in the area of computer science research.
Top 5 will be chosen. Both number published and quality of article will be considered.
No more than five students will be awarded during a particular year.
- Requirements and Application
Eligibility:
- Must be a student with an accepted paper, which was produced while at OSU
- Must have a high-quality first author paper.
- The final paper must have been accepted/published in peer-reviewed conference proceedings (during the previous year)
Nomination By:
- Research Advisor or Self
Nomination Criteria:
- Main Criteria: quality of paper

- Resume.
- The research article(s) along with citation and abstract, in a separate (pdf), for each article.
- Recommendation letter from research supervisor.

Outstanding Computer Science Leadership Student Award
The Outstanding Computer Science Leadership Award recognizes students who show exceptional leadership skills. This should include club membership and engagement in department events. Maximum of 5 will be chosen. No more than five students will be awarded during a particular year.

Eligibility:
- Must be registered under OSU CS Department
- Not a recipient of previous year’s Outstanding CS Leadership Award
Nomination By:
- Self
Nomination Criteria:
In order of importance:- Involvement in departmental club
- Level of engagement in the departmental clubs and events
- Other extracurricular/volunteer activities in college/campus

Submission Requirements:
- Resume
- Recommendation letter from the advising (or in-charge) faculty (of the club/event)
- Certificates (if applicable)
- Photos of relevant medal/trophies (if applicable)
- An essay (500 words) detailing the leadership activities, services to department, extra curricular activity, etc.
