Bio
Avinash Gupta is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Computer Science department. He is currently working as a Graduate Research Assistant at Center for Cyber Physical Systems. He has completed his Master’s Degree in Product Design and Manufacturing and his Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering. His Ph.D. research focuses on creation of HCI based framework for design of VR/MR based training simulators for healthcare context. Apart from the healthcare domain, he is also involved in research applicable to other domains such as manufacturing, space systems and education. He wants to pursue his career in academia focusing on research, teaching and mentoring. He is also involved with Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) activities, where he has mentored fifteen undergraduate students. He prides himself in conducting outreach activities for K-12 students under the Soaring Eagle program which was initiated by his Ph.D. advisor, Dr. J. Cecil. He was awarded the 2018 Fisher Computer Science Scholarship for outstanding academic achievement, personal integrity, and ability to contribute to the field of computing and information sciences.

- Served as a coordinator for NASA SUITS Project which was selected as one of the top ten projects to be tested at NASA JSC
- Mentored eight REU undergraduate students in Summer 2021
