Katy Kite
2014 Rising Star
BFA Graphic Design, '09
Katy Kite is from Tulsa, Oklahoma. She began her freshman year at OSU in the fall of 2005 as an animal sciences major. Though she enjoyed it, Katy knew it wasn’t her calling because she had always been interested in the visual arts and wanted to pursue a field where she could utilize her creativity daily.
Katy then discovered that OSU had a graphic design program through the College of Arts & Sciences Department of Art. She immediately fell in love with the courses and became passionate about the field of graphic design and illustration. Some of her illustration work was featured in STATE magazine her senior year (Fall 2009). She graduated summa cum laude in the winter of 2009 with a BFA in Graphic Design and minors in both art history and animal science. She still keeps in touch with her professors as she felt they were so integral to her success.
After graduation, Katy was hired as a freelancer by Littlefield Brand Development in Tulsa and two months later they hired her full time. She has been active in the Tulsa Art Director’s Club, which is a group of local art directors and graphic designers in the Tulsa area. She has had numerous projects win awards in the Tulsa Graphex design context, Telly awards, and had work featured in Communication Arts, which is a publication that features design work from across the world. Katy was recently honored as a Tulsa 40-under-40 awardee by Tulsa Business & Legal News.
She is a huge OSU football and wrestling fan. Katy loves her alma mater and all things Orange.
