Sheldon “Shel” Detrick graduated from OSU in 1959 with a B.S. in aerospace. He worked for his father-in-law at Hughes, Jones and Russel then formed the construction company Accent Homes of Tulsa, Inc. Two years later, he became sales manager of Moskowitz Realtors in Tulsa and in 1969 started Detrick Realtors, which became the second-largest firm in Tulsa.
In 1980 he sold 80% of the firm to Merrill Lynch then left the business and was appointed to the Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission. In 1984, he helped form Tulsa National Bank. Detrick returned to real estate in 1986, including time with Berkshire Hathaway and Prudential Alliance, and remains a well-known realtor with Walter & Assoc.
Detrick is a past director of the Boulder Bank of Tulsa, past member of the board of directors of Metropolitan Tulsa Board of Realtors, past director of Junior Achievement of Tulsa, Inc., past President of Oil Capital Chamber of Commerce, former member of the Tulsa Human Rights Commission, and is active with the Sigma Chi fraternity.
