STEPHANIE CLARK
2016 Distinguished Alumni
BFA Graphic Design '94
Stephanie grew up in a small town in Oklahoma and always wanted to be an “artist.” Her dad wanted her to major in business but Graphic Design at OSU it was!
Her career started as a graphic designer for a screen-printing operation in Norman. Shortly thereafter, she accepted a similar position at Harold’s, an upscale specialty retailer also in Norman. There her creative career in retail took off. Her experience at Harold’s lasted eight amazing years - including a move to Dallas. This led to a 4.5 year tenure as Sr. AD at Neiman Marcus where her skills expanded to include photography art direction. She then joined T3, a boutique agency in Austin, to see what things were like on the agency side.
In 2009, an exciting opportunity brought her back to Dallas. There she led the creative re-branding efforts under former Apple Exec, Ron Johnson, who hoped to revolutionize the JCPenney brand. She is now the Sr. Creative Director leading AD's, writers and designers executing photography/creative. It’s an all-consuming job requiring more people-management skills than she would have ever imagined, but as thus far been happy to prove her dad wrong by actually utilizing her degree. Go Pokes!
