Ruth Mauch Baruth

Ruth Mauch Baruth graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1969 and attended OSU where she joined the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. While at OSU, she received her bachelor’s degree in sociology in 1973 and her master’s degree in psychology in 1975. Early in her career, she worked as a counselor with pre-school and high school students with special needs in North Carolina and Texas. During this time, she also taught introductory psychology as an adjunct professor for East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.

 

In 1979, Baruth joined the higher-education publishing industry. She travelled extensively to universities and colleges while being an award-winning sales representative for three publishing companies. In 1990, she joined John Wiley and Sons in New York City as a mathematics editor and was later promoted to executive editor. She led her team in the publication of the best-selling first edition calculus textbook, a National Science Foundation project, authored by a consortium based at Harvard University. Baruth helped guide Wiley’s media group in developing the first company-developed online learning system. She was awarded Editor of the Year and received the Pacesetter Corporate Award for outstanding and innovating works at Wiley.

 

From 2004-2006, Baruth consulted nationally on digital and print higher-education learning materials. She joined Macmillan Publishers in New York City in 2005 as a senior publisher, managing the mathematics and statistics editorial and media team.

 

She retired in 2014 after playing an integral role in the development of Macmillan’s online digital platform. Since retiring to Rowayton, Connecticut, Baruth has been consulting in educational publishing for digital and print products.
