Susan Barber

M.S. Botany, '75

Susan Barber received her master's degree in botany from OSU in 1975. She went on to receive her doctorate in botany from the University of Oklahoma. She is married to Dr. David Nagle, Professor Emeritus at OU.

 

Barber worked for Oklahoma City University for 32 years, retiring from the provost position on July 1, 2015. From 2003-2010, she was OCU's associate provost. Before this, she was a faculty member for 20 years with OCU's biology department, serving as department chair for 17 years. She received numerous teaching awards during this time.

 

At OCU, she helped to establish the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, developed by the Physician Assistant program, and secured the university's first Phi Kappa Phi chapter. She has been a key figure in technology initiatives, student success and university research at OCU.

 

Barber is a past president of the Oklahoma Academy of Science and serves as the assistant editor for Flora Oklahoma, Inc. She is also involved with several botany, biology and research associations.
