GRADUATE SPECIALITY AREA – Social Psychology

WHY STUDY SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY?

Social Psychology studies the nature of social interaction and interpersonal relationships, examining how various social settings and individuals' roles are interconnected. It explores the factors that influence small group dynamics, such as work groups, study groups, youth societies, friend circles, teams, juries, and clubs. Social psychologists investigate how individuals' perceptions, belief systems, moralities, identities, and behaviors are shaped by their positions in social space—and, conversely, how these personal factors can influence social positions and broader structural arrangements.

Oklahoma State University faculty research interests include group processes, social exchange, social networks, sport and leisure, organizational behavior and change, adolescence and young adulthood, law and crime, social stratification, and community sociology.
