Grandparent University

Oklahoma State University’s Grandparent University (GPU) is a unique, three-day intergenerational summer experience hosted by the OSU Alumni Association that brings OSU legacies (children ages 7–13) and their grandparents to campus for an engaging taste of college life. Participants stay in residence halls, take classes taught by OSU faculty, explore academic disciplines, and create lasting memories together. This hands-on program actively connects generations and inspires future Cowboys and Cowgirls.

Our Department’s Commitment

Our department has proudly participated in Grandparent University since 2022 by offering Bits & Bytes: Adventures in Computer Science. This major features computer science–themed hands-on activities that showcase the exciting opportunities available in our field. Through faculty-led sessions, interactive demonstrations, and engaging learning experiences, we help spark curiosity and encourage young legacies (and their grandparents) to explore the possibilities within the computer science discipline. These efforts reflect our strong commitment to community engagement, academic outreach, and inspiring the next generation of learners.
