Center for Insecurity and Inequality Research
Who We Are
Center for Insecurity and Inequality Research
The Center for Insecurity and Inequality Research (CIIR) is devoted to understanding
the causes, consequences, and interconnections between insecurity and inequality with
a focus on the economy, energy, the environment, food, health, housing, jobs, and
social location. Inequality is the uneven distribution of resources across different
social positions and statuses. At its core, insecurity is the gap between actual and
expected conditions for living a healthy and fulfilling life, which is tied to different
types of inequality. CIIR is located in the College of Arts and Sciences at Oklahoma
State University.
What We Study
CIIR supports cutting-edge research on insecurity, inequality and their intersections
in service to OSU’s land-grant mission to extend critical knowledge and expertise
in, while also proposing solutions to, society’s most pressing problems.
