For Prospective Students
Undergraduate Students
Undergraduates are involved in all aspects of research, ranging from laboratory animal care, fieldwork, laboratory assays and trials, data analysis, poster and oral presentations, and publication. As a lab, our goal is for undergraduates to obtain hands-on experience in conducting research and communicating results. The level of involvement of undergraduate researchers can vary from case to case based on the primary interest of the student and his/her availability and can include assistance with the daily operation of the lab and animal care, participation in research projects of graduate student mentors, or even independent projects. The most successful undergraduate researchers stay with us for multiple semesters or even years, where they initially participate and assist in existing projects and eventually transition into pursuing their own research interests.
If interested, you can get involved in undergraduate research by enrolling in ZOOL 4700 (Undergraduate Research Problems; 1-4 credit hours; requires at least 3 hours of work per credit hour) or ZOOL 4750 (Honors Study in Zoology; 1-5 credit hours; requires at least 3 hours of work per credit hour). We also encourage undergraduates in our lab to compete fordepartmental awardsandresearch scholarshipsthrough OSU and other institutions. Our lab has hosted multiple students in the past through the Freshman Research Scholars Program, the Wentz Scholar Program and the Niblack Research Scholars Program.

Graduate Students
I retired from Oklahoma State University in 2013 and am no longer accepting new graduate students. I remain very active in research, however, and am eager to strike up new collaborations and to continue to advise undergraduates and my current graduate students. Please see my Collaborators pagefor potential graduate advisors.
