Outstanding Staff

The Outstanding Staff award goes to a full-time staff member who truly gives of themselves to ensure their department’s success; who touches the lives of those they encounter in a positive way. Criteria for outstanding staff awards include examining recipients’ quality of work, knowledge of their job, attitude toward their job and interactions with others.

2024 Winner — Mónica Santillán

Mónica’s role as Coordinator of Auditions, Outreach and Community Engagement is vital to the smooth operation of the Greenwood School of Music. She is responsible for overseeing auditions, ensuring that outreach efforts connect with the broader community, and managing engagement initiatives that draw in prospective students and enrich the experiences of current students. Her dedication to these responsibilities is unparalleled, and she executes her duties with precision, warmth and professionalism. She is consistently prepared, manages her time well and shows great attention to detail. Her organizational skills are impeccable; She often juggles multiple tasks with ease and still delivers high-quality work.

2024 Winner — Nancy Coleman

Nancy, who serves as the Accounting Specialist for Integrative Biology, requires minimal supervision where her duties are concerned. She knows her job inside and out and is the go-to for anything and everything payable. Nancy’s attendance is exemplary, and she’s a certified Marshall within OK Corral/Purchasing, attending training whenever it is offered by OSU. According to her nominators, it’s clear that Nancy has a passion for serving OSU and the Department of Integrative Biology. In addition to all this, Nancy is very approachable and does not hesitate to help anyone with questions that may arise. She is eager to assist in any aspect of the office.

2024 Winner — Vicki Rhodey

As a Senior Academic Advisor II, Vicki demonstrates an unwavering commitment to excellence in all aspects of her work. She is detail-oriented, ensuring that every task is completed with precision and care. Over the years, Vicki has played a pivotal role in training other advisors, sharing her vast knowledge and expertise to elevate the entire team. In addition to advising, she has also efficiently coordinated classroom scheduling for the Department of Integrative Biology, streamlining processes and ensuring smooth operations for both faculty and students. Vicki’s dedication and thoroughness set a gold standard for quality within the department and she remains an indispensable member of the advising community.

2024 Winner — Nancy Johnson

Nothing can happen in the School of Media & Strategic Communications with it passing across Nancy’s desk. She coordinates all travel arrangements and purchases, making sure the funds are spent appropriately, invoices are moving through the approval process, and everything is done quickly. Nancy takes on new responsibilities without complaint and does them thoroughly, including learning a new OSU Foundation invoice system, coordinating a new endowed speaker series, and helping the student services committee with scholarship fund information. She’s pleasant to work with and colleagues do not hesitate to ask for her help. Nancy has become vital to all we do in SMSC!
