Dr. Bernard F. Fuemmeler is a professor and the Gordon D. Ginder, M.D., Endowed Chair in cancer research in Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.  Fuemmeler completed his baccalaureate in psychology and philosophy from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and completed his master’s and doctoral degree in clinical healthy psychology at OSU.

 

Fuemmeler completed his clinical residency in psychology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston before attending Harvard University for a master’s degree in public health.

 

He received postdoctoral training in cancer prevention and control research at the National Cancer Institute. Fuemmeler began his academic Career at Duke University, where he rose from assistant to associate professor with tenure in the Department of Family Medicine.

 

In 2016, Fuemmeler was recruited to VCU’s Massey Cancer Center. In his position as associate director of cancer prevention and control, Fuemmeler works closely with the senior leadership team to enhance multidisciplinary research and serves on the executive leadership committee charged with setting and assessing the strategic plans, policies and priorities for the cancer center.
