Ten College of Arts & Sciences students have been selected as Oklahoma State University Seniors of Significance for the 2016-2017 academic year by the OSU Alumni Association.

The Seniors of Significance Award recognizes students who have excelled in scholarship, leadership and service to campus and community and have brought distinction to OSU.

And a third left Iran at age 13, finished his high school equivalency in the U.K., and started junior college in the U.S. at age 15. Two things tie the three of them together: taking risks and starting a Master's of Fine Arts in Graphic Design at Oklahoma State University.

Undergraduate life sciences researchers investigating microbial diversity and bacterial genetics as part of their courses are contributing to work being published in international scientific journals. Their research to identify novel strains of bacteria resulted in the students co-authoring eight publications about their discoveries in the journals Genome Announcements and Genomics Data.

niblack scholars resizedThe Niblack Research Scholars program at Oklahoma State University has opened the doors of cutting-edge research for undergraduates for 13 years. This year, 14 OSU undergraduate students are receiving $8,000 scholarships and the opportunity to conduct supervised research as 2016-17 Niblack Research Scholars. The annual program is funded by OSU alumnus John Niblack and his wife, Heidi Niblack.
