John A. Brett, III

B.S. Geology '84
John A. Brett, III graduated from OSU in 1984 with a B.S. in geology before beginning his career in oil and gas exploration for Leeman Energy Corporation in Oklahoma City. He was later employed by Carl E. Gungoll Exploration for four years as a prospecting geologist. In 1994 he formed Brett Exploration to provide geological and geophysical consulting services, as well as prospect generation and marketing. From 1999 to 2015, he was on retainer with Raydon Exploration, focusing on oil and gas exploration and development primarily in the Midcontinent. In January of 2016, he began Jasper Energy to explore and develop the Midcontinent.
John previously served as president of the Oklahoma City Geological Society and is currently the secretary for the AAPG Midcontinent Section. He also recently served as a director of the Boone Pickens School of Geology Alumni Advisory Committee at OSU.
John is married to his Northeast High School sweetheart, Patti, and they have three adult children — Anderson, Abby and Amanda — who all graduated from OSU.
