Commitment

The Theatre Circle of OSU is committed to helping OSU theatre students have a solid, well-funded, deeply resourced, and cutting-edge solid training foundation to emerge as the next wave of artists to transform the industry as theatre makers. We believe that theatre is a vital part of the very fabric of society and must be protected from the ground up through the action of growing audience, building philanthropic opportunity, and upholding theatre as a platform for education, entertainment, inspiration, catharsis, justice, and freedom of thought and expression.

Circle Up

At the beginning and end of most rehearsals, classes, or meetings, many theatre makers say, “Circle up!” All present form a perfect circle facing each other so they can make eye contact with all present. These theatre makers then open their hearts and minds, focus, concentrate, warm up, review, check in, summarize, and build goals. A circle has infinite points. It always has room for more. A circle can face in to protect, as in “circle up the wagons”, or it can face out to collectively grow and have impact on the world around it. We take our inspiration from this “Circle up!” artistic practice to name our service organization, The Theatre Circle of OSU
Theatre Club at Homecoming
