Masters Degree in Applied Statistics (available online)

This 32-credit hour professional master’s degree is available entirely online or in person on the Stillwater campus. Required coursework covers experimental data analysis, analytics, statistical programming and mathematical statistics.  Students will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge to real data and present results to peers in a capstone course.  The degree can be completed in only 1.5 years or over the course of many years, depending on an individual’s schedule and needs. Online students will be given access to course materials such as lecture notes, recorded lecture videos, and homework assignments through OSU’s learning management system, and will take exams through an online remote proctoring service or at a testing center.

Masters Degree in Statistics

This 2-year degree is composed of 4 core theory courses in probability, inference and linear models as well as applied statistics courses covering statistical machine learning, experimental data analysis and statistical programming.  Upon completion of this program, graduates will be able to effectively collect and use data for decision making, estimation, and prediction.  Graduates will also be well prepared for a PhD in Statistics or related fields.

Doctoral Degree

This degree is composed of 5 core statistics courses beyond the Statistics MS Degree.  Courses are computational statistics, advanced probability, large sample theory, advanced inference and multivariate theory.  Upon completion of the program, graduates will be able to develop and implement novel statistical methods for the analysis of new complex data, and be well prepared for a leadership role in industry, government, or academia.

Graduate Minor in Statistics 

This 18-credit hour minor is designed for students already enrolled in another graduate program at OSU who take multiple statistics courses. Two courses in mathematical statistics and four additional three-credit hour graduate-level statistics courses (excluding STAT 5013 Statistics for Experimenters I) are required.
