Kristen A. Baum joined the OSU faculty in 2005 and is currently a Professor of Integrative Biology, CAS Co-Director for OSUTeach, and Interim Associate Dean for Research and Facilities. Baum received a B.S. in Environmental Science from the College of William and Mary, a M.S. in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences from Texas A&M University, and a Ph.D. in Entomology from Texas A&M University. Her research focuses on the effects of land use and management practices on pollinators, including native bees, honey bees and monarch butterflies. She has served on numerous state, regional and national working groups to support conservation efforts for the monarch butterfly.

Baum has received grants from the National Science Foundation, Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, US Department of Agriculture, US Fish and Wildlife Service, US Geological Survey, US National Park Service, and others. She is active in efforts to support STEM education, prepare future secondary science and mathematics teachers, promote undergraduate research, and make science accessible to the general public. Baum was recognized with the CAS Junior Faculty Award in 2011, OSU Regents Distinguished Teaching Award in 2014, OSU Land Grant Award for Excellence in 2016, CAS Outstanding Faculty Mentor Award in 2016, and CAS Award for Excellence in Program Assessment in 2017.
