About

The Strategic Communication degree offers students the opportunity to study at an ACEJMC nationally accredited program with cutting-edge technology and a distinguished history. Students in the program will have a balance of theory and hands on training in the classroom. The curriculum addresses contemporary issues and technological changes that are currently affecting the media industry. The professors are industry professionals and provide knowledge that goes beyond textbook. Courses to expect for this major include Introduction to Strategic Communication, Copywriting and Creative Strategy, Graphic Design, and Advanced PR Writing.

Career Options

Upon graduation Strategic Communication majors are able to meet the diverse communications needs of any client or media outlet. Students create and maintain a professional portfolio that is turned in as part of the senior capstone course. The professional portfolio is a critical tool for students to showcase their media abilities to future employers. Our graduates enjoy successful careers in a variety of fields.

Finish in Four

The Finish in Four plans are designed to assist students in an eight semester plan guiding them to graduate within four years. Students may use this as a guide as they plan their undergraduate education, but should adjust it to fit their personal goals.

Scholarships

Scholarships are available for prospective freshmen, transfer students, current students and continuing students through the University, College of Arts & Sciences, and respective Departments.

When students complete the OSU admission application, they are automatically considered for the University Level scholarships.

Students are eligible for College Level scholarships within the College of Arts and Sciences after completing 12 hours at OSU. Some exceptions may apply. See specific scholarships for criteria.

The School of Media & Strategic Communications offers Departmental Level scholarships for eligible students.
