Geology Enthusiasts Revitalize Field Camp |
|
June 1, 2007
English novelist Charles Dickens wrote it was the best of times,
it was the worst of times in 1859, and many geology students would agree today.
Oklahoma State University
geology students are required to participate in a six-week field
study course in Colorado
in order to meet degree requirements. The course involves 40 intense days and provokes
a number of reactions from students toward the rustic conditions and heavy course
load.
“While a good portion of our students complain the majority
of their stay, most look back at it as one of the most enjoyable times of their
undergraduate studies because they remember is as a bonding experience,” said Jim
Puckette, camp instructor and associate professor of geology. |
