Music Major Named Outstanding Student Representative for College of Arts and Sciences

Reagan Wagner Pool, a senior majoring in music education, led the College of Arts and Sciences in the student processional at OSU's commencement ceremonies on Dec. 17. Pool was chosen to lead the processional because of her outstanding academic and community achievements.

As the leader of the processional, Pool wore an honorary orange cap and gown while carrying the college gonfalon. The grand march, an OSU tradition where graduates of each college walk from their reception area to the graduation ceremony, was led by Pool and Regents Professor Peter M.A. Sherwood, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Pool earned a bachelor’s degree in music education with an option in vocal certification. She began her OSU career as a Non-Resident Achievement Scholar. She was involved in her major and in organizations such as Mortar Board Honor Society, President’s Partners, Student Alumni Board, President’s Leadership Council, Chamber Choir, Concert Chorale, University Singers and Chi Omega Sorority. Pool performed as queen of the Madrigal Dinner in 2010, as well as several theater performances. Each year, Oklahoma hosts a statewide singing competition through the National Association of Teachers of Singing professional organization. In 2010, Pool completed the two rounds of auditions and received second place in the state.

A native of Wichita, Kan., she and her husband Geoff reside in Tulsa where she is an elementary music teacher at Metro Christian Academy.
