Dynamic Ecosystem Biodiversity Observatory
The Dynamic Ecosystem Biodiversity Observatory (DEBO) is dedicated to the vision that natural processes can serve as a model for appropriate use of natural resources. Intrinsic to this vision is that the diversity of life enriches the human experience.

The DEBO Center for Scholarship isnamed in honor of OSU librarian and respected historian Angie Debo (1890-1988), who was the leading scholar of the Oklahoma landscape.

DEBO’s initial mission was to establish an OSU presence at the Nature Conservancy’s Tallgrass Prairie Preserve.  We recognize that the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve is an outstanding resource for performing research, education, outreach, and other scholarly activities directly related to the vision statement.  The Preserve is an ideal place for exploring the relationships between natural dynamics, biodiversity, and humanity.  The current relationship between OSU and the existing field station at the preserve is currently under three-party negotiations, and the matter is out of the hands of DEBO personnel at present.

DEBO has since expanded its mission to include foci, including Low-Input High-Diversity Biofuels, and encouraging collaborative research on biodiversity-related topics.
