Brian Petrotta joined the College of Arts and Sciences in December 2013. As Coordinator of Strategic Communications, Petrotta serves as a liason between CAS personnel and the media, creates print and digital content to promote the College, and works with faculty, staff, students, and alumni to tell the story of CAS at OSU. Prior to OSU, Petrotta was the radio voice of the Wichita State University women’s basketball team and host of the Jody Adams Show for six years and also spelled Shocker Hall-of-Famer Mike Kennedy on volleyball broadcasts. In 2013, Petrotta served as fill-in host on the Shocker Sports Report, a television magazine program broadcast statewide in Kansas, and performed play-by-play duties on select baseball television broadcasts. He also filled in as Public Address Announcer for volleyball and baseball.
Petrotta brought extensive broadcast and media experience to Wichita State. Prior to working at Wichita State, he spent eight years broadcasting minor league baseball games (serving as Media Relations Director at each spot) and Sports Information Director at Stetson University and Newman University. The journey landed him in Idaho, Arizona, Utah, Iowa, Michigan, and Florida before returning to Kansas.
In 2006 Petrotta had the pleasure of handling lead play-by-play duties for several Los Angeles Dodgers spring training games on the Los Angeles Dodgers radio network.
Other television and radio opportunities have included the Missouri Valley Conference baseball tournament, high school football, professional indoor football, track & field, and election coverage.
Petrotta puts this experience to use at OSU by teaching a class in the School of Media and Strategic Communications titled, “Sports Information Systems.”
